1. The deal
The public record stays free for citizens, forever. PRO sells tools and power, never access to the record. These terms govern the website, the API, and the spin-off services of the Order Paper family.
2. Data licences pass through
Content is sourced from open.canada.ca (OGL-C), Statistics Canada (Open Licence), Parliament of Canada, the Bank of Canada and the Canada Gazette. Where the underlying licence requires attribution, attribution is a legal condition of your use — not a courtesy. Canada Gazette text is non-commercial: you may summarize and link; you may not resell or re-publish its text without permission from the relevant authority.
3. Free tier
The API is free, read-only, keyless, and rate-limited at the edge. Fair use: no scraping beyond the snapshot cadence, no resale or re-hosting of raw feeds on the free tier.
4. Attribution & registration
Every API payload carries meta.attribution. Consumers must render the provided snippet near their use of the data. Commercial API use requires registering the consuming website (free). We monitor registered sites for attribution and will warn before any further action. Repeat violations lose free-tier access.
5. Privacy
We collect only what a purpose needs: an email for delivery, a site URL for attribution monitoring. No tracking profiles, no list sales, no advertising profiles — ever. See the privacy doctrine summary and PIPEDA/Quebec Law 25 compliance notes.
6. Content integrity
Published pages are permanent: corrections append, nothing is silently deleted. AI-assisted text is labelled with the model. Every figure cites its source (see Citations).
7. No warranty; liability
The data is public record, provided as-is. Order Paper is an observer and index, not the source of government content. Verify critical items at the official source linked on every page.
8. Changes & contact
These terms evolve with the product; material changes are announced on this page with a date. Contact: register@orderpaper.ca.
